When you’re scaling epic peaks around the world, it’s nice to have a place to call home. A place that grounds you. A place that feels the most real. For legendary snowboarder Jeremy Jones, home is Squaw Valley, California.
But going (or coming) home for Jeremy Jones does not mean staying indoors and leafing through old magazines or sitting through a Netflix binge. It is far from that. In fact, Jeremy’s version of “hanging up his boots” after shredding the gnarliest lines for projects such as his recent “blockbuster” of sorts, Higher, is probably more adventurous than most people’s adventurous outings.
It includes wake surfing…
…a little SUP…
…climbing…
…and, of course, hiking/riding when there is snow.
And it isn’t only him. This is what the locals in Squaw Valley do. All (or almost all) of them! So it is easy to appreciate how he might take a great amount of stock in their reaction to the premiere of his latest documentary. This audience matters, if even only a little, more to him, because it is among them that he got his footing.
The first in a four-part series exploring “What Drives Jeremy Jones,” it offers an encouraging insight into Jeremy’s connection to the community that supports the man who, in turn, is supporting the winter sports community at large.
What a badass.
