The Inertia

Danny Davis already won the X Games — even before last night’s Superpipe final. But for anyone who is interested in “events” and the “scores” that come with them, he made it official last night… all with his signature style. And that is what we love about 26-year-old Danny: while most twist and cork their ways into an unconscionable blurry, he stalls and breaks up the routine with HUGE 1s, tweaking those grabs into the next dimension.

However, let this not take away from the performance 19-year-old Sochi bronze medalist Taku Hiraoka. A bright future ahead for the relative youngster. There are is many who would argue that he had the cleaner, even better run, and those arguments are valid.

At the (literal) end of the day, though, Danny’s style gave him back-to-back wins in Aspen, with Sochi gold medalist Iouri Podladtchikov taking third and Shaun White falling to fourth.

As expected, Danny and Taku weren’t the only boys to show up. It was a slam-bang finish for everyone involved.
