The Inertia

What happened to getting too drunk at the rehearsal dinner then pulling it all together for a leisurely stumble down the aisle? Instead of the typical hum-drum of a normal celebration of love, Brian and Mandy Fabel chose to go another route, one that included a 14 mile bike ride, a 24 mile hike, and nine pitches of climbing. And that was only to get to the wedding. Their reception of sorts was another 14 mile bike ride, 24 mile hike, and nine pitches of climbing the other way.

From their home in Lander, Wyoming to the Cirque of the Towers in the state’s Wind River Range and up the Northeast Face of Pingora Peak — 1,200 feet of climbing to a 11,884-foot summit elevation, all at Grade IV, 5.8, nine pitch —  this crazy (arguably insane) couple was joined by equally crazy (also arguably insane) officiant Jamie O’Donnell and Maid of Honor Sam Lightner Jr.. If that isn’t being the best friends ever, then I don’t know what is. I hope the wedding party wasn’t asked for gifts…

Joking aside, this sets a rather good precedent for their marriage: if both are willing to go to those lengths to tie the knot, and have the support of friends who are willing to as well, then nothing else ought to stand in the way of a long and adventurous life together. Cheers, you freaks of nature.
