In fact, they’re shutting down shop on the annual Hollywood circle-jerk as to not disrespect Avalanche Sharks by even feigning that any film after will come close to the cinematic coup d’état that the trailer to the Mammoth thriller revealed itself to be. Like Warren Miller and Out Cold* before it, the horror sci-fi movie demonstrates the creative genius and innovative filmmaking that the ski industry brings to the silver screen. A mythical snow shark? Check. Half nude biddies for Bikini Snow Day? Check. An undoubtedly compelling storyline involving shredding and respect for the mountain? Checks on checks on checks.
*Jokes aside, the Jason London-Zach Galifianakis vehicle was and continues to be a seriously underrated ski-town flick.
We suppose this is what happens when a ski resort suffers a historically awful winter — the locals get bored.
