If you’re going to bike or run an ultra, might as well make it a scenic throughway. And this stretch through Oisans in the French Alps is one scenic throughway for sure.
From iconic mountain passes to high-altitude lakes, the road to the finish line offers breathtaking scenery and technical sections alike. It starts in La Grave, the goes over the Cols du Lautaret and du Glibber before crossing Les Cerces and the Emparis Plateau, followed by Hautes-Alpes, Isère and Savoie. And we would be wrong to omit the Pays de la Meije.
This gives whole new meaning to: welcome to paradise, now go to hell.
