Now that the wait is over, it’s time to hook up with the crew: and when you’re arriving at Mammoth for opening weekend, you know without a doubt that the gang’s all here. From catching up with old friends to getting stoked on new vibes, it is great to be back among familiar faces, both on the mountain and off.
For TM Sean Black and the Arbor team, the trip to Mammoth is a rite of passage for each new season — especially as the mountain is practically in their backyard. Coming from the sunny shores of southern California, having a place as coveted as Mammoth within drive’s reach makes for good riding when west coast conditions are right. And with glimpses of El Niño peeking through the forecasts, we and everyone we know are keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll be taking many planned and impromptu trips up.
Anyway, from the looks of opening weekend, if there is a place to get your head straight for the upcoming season, Mammoth is a heavy favorite.
