“To truly have good style is to, you know, truly have good style. It’s not just about how you grab or how you ride, but it’s about how big you go — and about your attitude.” – Danny Kass
“Style is preference of what you like to see.” – Terje Haakonsen
Whatever you want to take away from those profound musings of Danny Kass and Terje Haakonsen, one thing is for certain: Stale Sandbech is style embodied. While it is true that everyone has their own style, Stale has it in spades, and seems to soar above his contemporaries with a confidence that comes from the simple act of riding more than the next.
And the fact that the Air + Style tour champion packs it out at a handful of the most gorgeous mountains in the world only makes that signature style resonate even stronger.
That depth of horizon so common in his shots (generally taken by brother Frode) offers the kind of perspective that not only transcends snowboarding, but in doing so raises snowboarding to new heights, at least in an aesthetic sense.
All of this is to say: stop what you’re doing and watch his part in Snowboarding: For Me — it really is something else.
