The Inertia

SB2SD is Dave Schauber’s statement. It’s a statement that says he is sick and tired of the current style of surf films. He simply wants “surf, straight up, without the excess.” And after watching this edit, we’re not going to deny or even begin to refute his point — it’s a little jarring at first, but then you’re right back at your childhood friend’s house tossing back cases of Splurge getting mental before having your older brother take you out for a paddle.

You’ll get good long glimpses of boys being boys and absolutely shredding, with sections from the likes of Kelly Slater, John John Florence, Dane Reynolds, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Conner Coffin, Yadin Nicol, Josh Kerr, Julian Wilson, Sebastian Zietz, Nat Young, Kolohe Andino, Adriano de Souza, Felipe Toledo, Gabriel Medina, Brett Simpson, Mitch Crews, Bede Durbridge, and Pat Gudauskas, among other. Caught at breaks between Santa Barbara and San Diego, including travel segments to Bali and Hawaii, there is a hefty mixture of surf and scenery to keep the pace pumping throughout. How about a raw strike mission to Mexico? No problem.

We’ll respect Schauber’s wishes for brevity by leaving you with this rather appropriate disclaimer he wrote into the opening credits (or what there is of them).

Warning: This film was not made with a Corpo Budget. It contains NO Red Cam Footage, NO Drone Shots, NO GoPro Clips, NO Water Angles, NO Endless B-roll, No Artsy Edit’s, and NO Weak Music. SB2SD is a “FREE” internet surf film showcasing red hot surfing at a number of breaks throughout Southern California and features travel segments in Bali, Mexico, and Hawaii.
