It never gets old, does it? For decades at this point, we’ve seen countless films, edits, photos, and more collectively sing the praises of Japan’s seemingly endless supply of snow. Niseko, in particular, averages about 49.5 feet of fresh every year and especially in the west as we’ve got early season dreams of powder days in the not-so-distant future, Japan is looking particularly inviting.
Last season, Roxy team riders Robin Van Gyn, Torah Bright, and Aimee Fuller had the chance to explore arguably one of snowboarding’s great wonders of the world and sample its depth. Conclusion? Pack a snorkel.
Here’s what Van Gyn had to say about the trip:
“67 hours of flight time total, 10 pieces of luggage, 17 airplane/airport meals, and one 5 hour van ride, ONE WAY. Worth it to land in the land of ramen and Hi-Chew with 2 of your sisters from different prime ministers. Torah Bright, Aimee Fuller and I spent 10 days in Niseko, wading in Japow, sampling everything this incredible island has to offer… including dried fish.”
