During a routine checkup on a pregnant ragged tooth shark at an aquarium in South Africa, a diver’s arm is viciously mauled after he tried to move the shark to an isolation tank for medical inspection. Spectators helplessly watch the dramatic scene unfold as the pool quickly fills with blood.
Ragged tooth sharks are often associated with being vicious, deadly creatures due to their relatively large size and sharp, protruding teeth. However, these sharks are actually quite docile and do not pose as immediate threats to humans unless cornered or provoked.
The diver was treated for serious wounds on his arm and has since made a full recovery.
