Long day at work winding down? Replace that shot of espresso or can of Red Bull with this, all the while thanking the gods that you’re safe at work instead of straddling a fatal freefall. Yep, this is the kind of edit that will indeed make you grateful for the familiar faces of colleagues around your usual claustrophobic but not quite comfortable cubicle. (Actually, nothing will make you grateful for that, but you get the point.)
This snow bridge failure happened on Strahlhorn, in the Swiss Alps, just last week. But fortunately the skier, Roland Spilthooren, was skiing with a professional guide and knew a thing or two about how to handle the risky circumstances, the most important being the ice screw he set to avoid falling further. Anyway, have a look at the traumatizing event — which he thankfully made it out of — for yourself.
This is the second such situation involving a crevasse as of late. Makes you think twice, doesn’t it?
