The Inertia

Now you see her, now you don’t. As simply as breathing, Mother Nature once again reminds the rest of the world that she’s running the show. And it looks like she’s taking a big, deep breath. Or even a sigh of sorts. Perhaps she’s thinking of the terrible mess us humans are leaving here on Earth.

What is really going on? It is a “one minute time-lapse video of the total cloud inversion that filled Grand Canyon on Thursday, December 11, 2014.” What does that mean? An inversion is when the temperature decides to pull the ol’ switcheroo and increase with height (as opposed to decreasing with height, as it usually does). Anyway, a cloud inversion is when this switcheroo happens at a high enough altitude that clouds spread out beneath this layer. Science aside, it is one cool thing to watch.
