The Inertia

For Takafumi Konishi, the search keeps him going. Tomorrow keeps him going… it is a commitment to tomorrow that allows Konishi to face fears and surmount doubt.

The Japanese snowboarder knows that there are risks in what he loves and does for a living. The risks are undeniable. In fact, he accepts that his life, in many ways, is a Catch 22: “It’s not 100% fun when I am filming. There is so much risk in what I do — the chance of death seems higher than in a car accident.”

But life is nothing if not a constant exploration of the next moment; and it isn’t necessarily the exploration of a new line or mountain, but rather the exploration of your own personal frontiers, physical or mental. In order for each of us to explore whatever those personal frontiers are, we must first face fears (of change) and surmount doubt (of the unknown). However, like with any line or mountain you choose to ride, committing is the first step. So commit, and find your tomorrow.
