It would be fun to be Danny MacAskill. Put him on a bike and any type of terrain turns into a playground. His most recent terrain of choice? The Adidas HQ.
A few nights ago, I went out to a local pub for a couple of drinks. On the way home, pedaling through the driving rain down unlit streets (the town I live in is small enough that there are only handful of them and one single flashing red light), I found myself having an absolute blast. And I was just going straight. MacAskill? I can’t even imagine what he would have found himself doing.
MacAskill has long been one of the best there is when it comes to mountain biking and street trials. He’s been riding for Adidas for over a decade, and he’s been to the global head office more than once in those ten years.
“This time was different,” the Adidas team wrote. “After seeing the huge potential the campus had, Danny made the exclusive facilities in Germany the canvas for a session like never before.”
MacAskill, I imagine, is a lot like a surfer looking at an empty wave or a skateboarder looking at some perfectly banked feature. He sees potential everywhere, and the Adidas HQ was no different.
“The first time I got the invite to the campus I immediately started riding the place in my mind,” he said. “Riding all the rooftops, riding all the railings, you know, it’s a really interesting space. Not just anyone can go there! As soon as you see that kind of big overhanging piece of architecture or whatever, you immediately imagine the different things you could do up there. So, it was cool to finally get to come here to actually do it.”
