The Inertia

Spearfishing might not the easiest way to get a meal, but it’s one of the most rewarding. Kimi Werner, however, has it pretty much mastered. It was a lifetime of experience that led her to that mastery. Growing up off the grid in Maui, spearfishing was her family’s primary way of getting food. That turned into a passion for the ocean and more than a few freediving and spearfishing trophies. Now, she’s a certified culinary chef, an award-winning artist, and a public speaker. In fact, she’ll be a speaker at The Inertia’s EVOLVE 2019 on August 17.

She was joined recently by Gordon Ramsay, the screaming chef who makes some of the best food on the planet. It’s part of a series called Uncharted, where Ramsay “travels the globe on an epic adventure, experiencing new cultures and new cuisines in search of culinary inspiration.”

As Ramsay found out, there’s almost nothing better than a fresh fish that you’ve put in the work to get. And if you’re interested in taking up spearfishing, here’s how you can do it.
