The Inertia

What is bubble feeding? Only the most awesome hunting technique ever. Basically, humpbacks in Southeast Alaska — this hunting technique is specific to them — dive down to schools of fish, generally herring, where one whale (known as the bubble-blower) releases a ring of, yep, bubbles from its blowhole. The bubbles then effectively trap the herring, helped by another whale that emits predatory calls or sounds, making the fish school up. Then the rest of the whales (anywhere from a handful to a couple dozen) position themselves below the herring, open up their mouth, and go through the buffet line. So as mentioned before, bubble feeding is only the most awesome hunting technique ever.

Awesomeness of the predators aside, how beautiful is Alaska?
