Ask around and the ocean holds different meanings for different people. For the corporate exec, it might be a refuge from the rat race. To a young hotshot, a proving ground.
This short film, “Generations,” from our friends at Seea dissects that idea from the female perspective. To Leah Dawson, the ocean is a place where she can quite literally push her surfing to new heights. For Jennifer Binney, it’s an avenue through which to instill Hawaiian culture into her daughter, Rella. And for others, it’s so much more.
“This collection of snapshots,” explains Seea, “celebrates the many ways women enjoy the same ocean playground through evolving stages of their lives. From living completely in the present, to pushing past their fears and boundaries, teaching their daughters what they learned from their mothers, and reflecting on how they came to live their dreams—no matter the pivots and shifts in the journey of womanhood, the sea is our constant companion.”
