Bears can get big. Really big. For the most part, bears just want to be left alone so they can clomp around and eat salmon and root around for berries and whatnot. There’s one bear in particular that has eaten a lot of salmon and berries: Bear 747.
The bear, who lives in Alaska’s Katmai National Park, was named the park’s “Fattest Bear of 2020” — which is a good title to have, if you’re a bear. Fat Bear Week 2021, in fact, just came to a close. Bear 747 decided to get a closer look at a group of tourists recently, which, according to guide Patrick Carter, is pretty much par for the course.
It was not an unusual event,” Carter told Flying magazine. “It’s not a deadly thing. It’s sort of like a ‘nothing to see here’ thing. You could literally take that video every day.”
