This is everything. Rustic facade. Inspired location. And an immaculate interior that makes roughing it a luxurious event.
No… spending time in the great outdoors doesn’t need to be “luxurious” — but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a nice set of circumstances when those words collide. Or more aptly, as in this case, come together.
This stone-stacked cabin resides in Linescio, Switzerland, a small dot on the map right across the northernmost border of Italy. (For how close it is to Italy, take this as reference: the nearest major city is Milan at 50 miles away.) A Basel-based shop, architecture firm Buchner Bründler Architekten were the ones to reimagine the previously beat-down backwoods shack of sorts.
And, boy oh boy, did they reimagine* it. The beautiful black-and-white video tour below as intoxicating as those kinds of edits get. This will, and should, make you want to pack up those bags and head for a life in the hills.
Yep, you’re smiling. And dreaming of a future in which this weekend retreat, or full-time home for the hermit in you, is a reality. It truly is house porn at its very best.
From Mike Basich to the Swiss, I know exactly what what my first real estate investment is going to be. At least when my big ol’ boat of money comes in. Until then, awesome kitchen cutlery it is.
*Now, if you happen to be one of those staunch defenders of architectural conservation, I understand and appreciate that this swanky take might appear a clear distortion of its original state. That being said, get over yourself. If walking across splintered floors to get to the bathroom every morning is how you want to wake up, go for it.
