The Inertia

Zenja Potapov puts together some of the most creative runs you’ll find in any park scene. Just go to his Instagram page and you’ll see an endless feed of tricks and combos nobody else is linking together — a personal style he decided to give its own name.

“In the past couple of winters i figured something that made me see snowboarding a bit different,” Potapov wrote earlier this year. “I accidentally did a trick that opened a huge world of opportunities, and those opportunities led me to create SNAPPY tricks.”

This past season, Potapov teamed up with filmmaker Joonas Mattila at Finland’s Levi Ski Resort to put that self-glossed style into one coherent edit. Unsurprisingly, the concept of the film itself turned out to be as creative as anything else Zenja does in the park.

Snappyboarder feels like it could be a longform cold open for Stranger Things with a visit from an alien ship and Potapov heading back down the hill as if he’s been given supernatural powers. If you’re a park rat, you’ll love this one.
