Nostalgia. It’s something all of us experience. Many of us have looked back and said to ourselves, “I used to surf better. I used to have more fun.” There is so much shit going on around us that all the various elements in our lives can make us stray from the path we had wished for ourselves. This is precisely what happened to Dusty Payne over the past several years. Aside from his back injury, something just wasn’t right with him. He got in funk, so to speak. Fortunately for him, Dusty seems to have escaped it. The victory at the Reef Hawaiian Pro and that wicked beard of his are proof that we are seeing a new and improved Dusty Payne. He looked sharp as hell and brimming with confidence as he advanced out Heat 7 of Round 2 in the Vans World Cup of Surfing today. Requalifying for the WCT or a Triple Crown victory is not at all out of the question for this Hawaiian ripper. I would be grinning ear to ear to hear any of the above. Let’s go, Dusty!
