The Inertia

The newest video from Chapter 11 TV opens on a fictional support group for small wave surfers. The circle of shame is pretty packed, with Britt Merrick, Timmy Curran, Eithan Osborne, Josiah Amico, Sage Erickson, Devon Howard and Sammy Reynolds making appearances.

The sketch is all in good fun, but packs in a few barbs aimed at the participants. “You’d still be on the CT if you could surf a decent wave,” admonishes Merrick to Erickson, to which Erickson replies, “I could surf bigger waves if you could shape a decent step-up.”

However, then Dane appears to wreak havoc. After a choreographed fight that ends with Dane hucking Josiah Amico off a railing and into a dumpster, Amico emerges to deliver the actual news of the video: CI is releasing a sequel to the popular Dumpster Diver model.

In a separate video on the CI YouTube channel, Dane goes into a more technical breakdown of the craft. The sequel carries on the groveler DNA of the original, which was designed by Dane Reynolds and Britt Merrick for conquering lackluster competition waves at Lowers. However, the Dumpster Diver 2 has a few new developments, including a wider nose and tail, more nose and tail rocker, and a more subtle single concave. According to CI, all this allows the board to “excel in a wider range of conditions and let you rip as hard as you think you do.”

The new board also has new accompanying thruster fins designed by Reynolds. They’re a translucent fiberglass set, with two regular-sized front fins using the AM2 template, and a smaller back fin for a “slightly 2+1 feel.”

While it’s not going to make you actually surf like Dane Reynolds, maybe if you spend enough money you can trick yourself into thinking you do.
