I’ll be honest. I didn’t even know where Bulgaria was, let alone if it had waves or not. It turns out the Black Sea does produce those little delightful nuggets that inspire us to get up every morning. The Black Sea, however, has a limited fetch area, so the kind of swell that is produced there is short period, peaky surf, rather than the classic lined-up groundswells that are produced by distant storms which are common in the Atlantic or Pacific. Although it is unlikely to travel to Bulgaria and score the session of your life, it is quite fascinating seeing a fun, little peaky wave in places you aren’t used to seeing them. Enjoy!
