The Inertia

This is a highlight reel cut from the past year of my travels, my home, my friends, and my daily adventures. Filming surf is not something I’ve done for a long time, but since I started in late 2009, I’ve frequently contributed videos for the Surf Station.

Most of the images are from my home in St. Augustine, Florida. The first two waves however, are Australian and ridden by Miss Lauren Lindsey Hill, queen of knee-high grace. We fled an exceptionally cold winter in late February (for Florida…We are self-acknowledged wimps.) with the great excuse of working on a month of daily surfing and videos.

The exercise of looking back in time through older projects has reminded me that I owe a great deal of credit to the many friends that kept me motivated and were just there to share in good times. The ever-encouraging, ever-stoked Jacob Hamilton appears so often in the videos because he is always happy to go for a surf, explore the amazing area where we live, or do something goofy and fun. I’m extremely grateful for my friendships and the chance to document wave riding or a beautiful moment here and there.

Memory is a funny thing and I’m thankful to have a visual record of those days. It was a fun trip around the sun and I’m looking forward to another orbit.
