During the making of Way Of The Ocean, I spent a lot of time in the bottom portion of Australia dodging rain squalls and chasing Southern Ocean swells with Adam Robertson. Adam grew up in Victoria where he was groomed by powerful surf that wraps into the many right hand points and reefs. Its easy to see the way he draws his clean lines and displaces large amounts of water that he is a product of his environment.
One particular swell during our stay was one of the biggest that year and allowed for a few waves to turn on that we had been keeping our eyes on. One being a long right point that faces almost the complete opposite direction from the swell source and spins a perfect right down a very long sandy point. The other a perfect beach break on an island off the coast that takes a huge swell to wrap around and produce the perfect a-frame peaks. Both spots turned on and made for a week of perfect surf, minimal crowds and big smiles.
