Reunion Island has made international news twice this week under gloomy circumstances. Aside from an ugly fight involving professional surfer and Reunion Island native Jeremy Flores, a second tragic event unfolded when a shark attacked an unidentified surfer at 6 PM on Saturday at Three Rocks, Saint-Gilles, located on the West Coast of Reunion Island.
According to UnderWaterTimes.com, the surfer, 32, lost half of his leg in the incident. There have been 30 shark attacks recorded in Reunion Island since 1972. Seventeen of those attacks were fatal.
