Zeke Lau kicked off a belated winter season with a trip to Rocky Point. Seeing as it’s already February in a season that has had a few pretty incredible days on the North Shore, Zeke was a bit late to the party this year. It was a fact he acknowledges at the top of the video: “I kind of like the fact it’s empty,” he calls to the camera while picking his way towards Rockies. “Guys are all surfed out, [I] skipped the first two months of winter.”
Zeke was joined by friend and fellow WSL competitor Keanu Asing in a fitting return to the waves. However, while Zeke’s surfing is obviously world class, the truly incredible sight was a virtually empty Rocky Point lineup. “Got a bunch of good waves,” summed up Zeke. “Pretty un-crowded for how good the waves are. Super fun sesh.”
Hopefully there’s more to come from both Zeke and the North Shore winter season.
