For anyone that knows Lahaina, they know what an important town it is the island of Maui. And now, sadly, Lahaina has fallen to the devastating wildfires that ravaged the West Side of the island recently. The loss of life has been great, but the community has come together to help the people most in need right now. Zane and Matt Schweitzer have been at the center of that effort along with Kai Lenny, Matt Meola, Ian Walsh and other surfers. The watermen and women have stepped up to help the greater Maui Community.
Zane, of course, is a gifted big wave surfer, SUP surfer, windsurfer and foiler. Matt runs a production company, Island Eye Productions.
Matt and Zane are third generation Maui residents, and aside from just being really good people, they’ve used their skills to highlight the destruction, and organize recovery efforts in the face of some really daunting conditions. The brothers recently spoke with NBC about the current situation on the island.
