“You and the Thing That You Love” – that’s what it’s all about right? Nick Mullins, a rising star in the Detroit skate scene, almost died when he contracted MRSA (a really difficult-to-treat staph infection) from a road rash, and lost his vision in the process. But he didn’t let that get in between him and the thing that he loves – skating. “I got a little bit jealous one day when my friends were skating halfpipe,” he said. “Halfpipe was always my favorite. That day I wasn’t even thinking about falling or getting hurt, I just wanted to make it to the other side.” With the help of some muscle memory, dedication, and surrendering to the flow, Nick has been back to his old tricks, literally. Masterfully shot and edited by Nicholas Maher, this 11-minute mini-doc makes for some great mid-week inspiration.
