Erin Brooks and Sierra Kerr will make their Championship Tour debuts as wildcards at Cloudbreak next month. The WSL announced its plan to award the wildcard to the young prodigies Monday while the second and final men’s wildcard will be determined by the winner of the local trials. The league announced back in April that Kelly Slater would receive a wildcard for the Fiji Pro shortly after he’d failed to qualify above the CT’s mid-year cut line.

The addition of Brooks and Kerr is going to add some intrigue to the women’s draw at Cloudbreak. Both have had spotlights shined on them while they’ve grown up and progressed, regularly impressing the entire surf world with their tube-riding talents in solid surf.

Brooks, who turns 17 this week, is likely set to qualify for the 2025 Championship Tour. While she hasn’t mathematically secured her spot yet, that could all but guaranteed with one more solid result. Brooks kicked off this year’s tour with back-to-back appearances in event finals, winning at Snapper Rocks and finishing second behind Isabella Nichols at the next stop in Sydney. She currently sits in second place on the Challenger Series leaderboard.

Kerr, meanwhile, is in her first full season on the Challenger Series. The 17-year-old daughter of former Championship Tour standout Josh Kerr won three consecutive Junior Tour events this year and six of the last eight Junior Tour events dating back to February 2023.
