The World Surf League announced another four-stop schedule for its 2024 Longboard Tour. It has added two slight wrinkles to this year’s program which spans from July to October and visits three continents with a fourth stop still to be determined. Last year’s single-day Finals format will return as well but moved to a different location this time around.

The first two stops will take place at Bells Beach and Huntington Beach in July and August. The US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach runs through the 2024 Olympic Games, meaning the Huntington Beach Longboard Classic will be held August 3 through August 6 to allow Olympic athletes time to travel from Tahiti to California. The third event on the tour is set for September with a location and contest window still to be determined.

Those three events will determine the top eight men and top eight women in the rankings who will compete in the Longboard Championships, another winner-take-all event similar to the WSL Finals on the Championship Tour. That event will take place at El Sunzal, the righthand pointbreak in El Salvador that served as the third stop on the 2023 Longboard Tour.

“It’s great to see the continued growth of the WSL Longboard Tour,” said Jessi Miley-Dyer, WSL Chief of Sport. “We premiered the new one-day Finals format last season on the Longboard Tour and are excited to bring that back in 2024, this time in El Salvador. With the new structure, we hope to continue to offer more opportunities for our surfers, and we’ll continue that approach this season. For the 2024 schedule, we’re excited to announce details of three of the four events and will share more details about Stop No. 3 soon.”

-Huntington Beach Longboard Classic (Huntington Beach, Calif., USA): August 3 – 11, 2024 (Longboard division will be August 3 – 6 to allow Olympic athletes time to travel from Tahiti to the US Open of Surfing)
