The Inertia

“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each.” -Thoreau

nevinsIt’s about to get real cold again back east and while most start jetsetting elsewhere, some of us actually love to be engulfed in winter. Being raised in a place where you plow your driveway before you surf lends itself to a different perspective on beach lifestyle for a good chunk of the year. Surf trips are documented a lot these days in cold places and the participants always pat themselves on the back for their daring exploits. While I can’t deny it takes thicker skin to do so, when it’s always been your day to day experience, however, the novelty doesn’t exist. You just see the little things that are unique to your own little world and share the appreciation for how incredible the surfing experience is blind to temperature.
