Surfers are trendsetters. They always have been. Perhaps that’s why people in Middle America wear surf-related brands even though they’ve not surfed a day in their lives. Surfers are often perceived as being “cool,” but I believe that perception can and should be used for good. I started a nonprofit called My Wave Addiction, which is aimed to encourage people to make environmentally conscious choices in their day-to-day lives.
There is so much more we can be doing as a community to reflect our values and love for the ocean, which is why I want to invite you to join us for our upcoming Bike to Surf Week event. While there are some amazing prizes up for grabs, including a Firewire Surfboard, we hope to inspire the surfing community to get involved to win the real prize in mind: setting the right trends. Trends we can be proud of. Trends that make the world a better place.
See how you can get involved by visiting the Bike to Surf Week Facebook page.
