YouTuber group The Sickos have once again returned to the world of surfing… kind of. For their latest video, the squad of extreme sports and stunt enthusiasts tried their hands at riding waves with an inflatable life raft and the results were…interesting.
Of course, it’s not the first time a life raft has been taken out into surf, but the YouTubers spiced up the stunt by picking quite possibly the least seaworthy model they could find. “This is borderline a pool floaty,” said Sickos member Maks Moses, before jabbing the craft with an oar. However, his compatriate Charlie Cohn had a more optimistic outlook: “This is a Toyota Camry of rafts. Does it look nice? No, but it’ll go the mile.”
They both turned out to be a little right. Though the float was indeed more pool-worthy than seaworthy, the pair of Sickos who drew literal short straws ended up hanging on just long enough to ride the contraption through some surprisingly heavy whitewash.
That turned out to just be prelude to the main event, though. Emboldened by their moderate success, the gang packed into a more legitimate whitewater raft and returned to the water to tempt fate together. What resulted was, by their account “a countless amount of hold down slams.”
