Chuck Patterson has a knack for capturing viral things on film. The gifted multi-sport athlete seems to always be in the right place at the right time. In 2010, he woke the world up to the great white shark population occupying the warm waters off the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant in North San Diego County (the warmer water from the plant increased sea life in the area, some theorized). Then he created his own viral video when he set up a film trip to snow ski Jaws.

This time, while cruising with friends off the Laguna Beach, California coastline this week, Patterson captured a wild pod of dolphins moving along the coast. Hundreds of the mammals can be seen cruising through the water like a stampede of “wild horses.” “Mother Nature’s amazing wonders never disappoint,” he wrote. “Highlighting the importance of protecting this magic by cleaning up our oceans and use of single-use plastics.” Amen to that. And what a crazy sight.
