There’s something about whales that humans often find comforting. Even if they’re ten times our size (or more). They’re mostly peaceful creatures – if you don’t include killer whales. Whales are protectors of the seas. To wit, this video taken recently near Puerto Madryn, Argentina, on the coast of northern Patagonia, where a whale gave a paddlerboarder a love tap.
Quick reminder: Patagonia is a region in the seemingly endless southern tip of South America that’s shared by Argentina and Chile. Argentina makes up the eastern coast and according to the Associated Press, these southern right whales were in the midst of their annual migration when they came in contact with the stand-up paddleboarder. One of the curious beasts gave the stand-up paddler a little nudge, albeit a very gentle one. The drone video was captured during the first part of this month.
