The Inertia

So, this isn’t something you see every day. And the word “bear” and “Florida” aren’t always thought of in the same sentences. But in Pensacola, a black bear was recently seen trotting casually across the beach. Bears are actually native to Florida and still thrive in places like the Everglades. They have traditionally roamed throughout Florida and into border states like Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama. However, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission estimates that only 3,000 Florida black bears remain and there are efforts underway to protect the species.
