The Inertia

The apex of the Natural Selection Tour’s move from snow to surf is upon us, as the Natural Selection Surf Finals are set to run today. You can watch them live at 12 p.m. Pacific time (above). The field is stacked with freesurfers that have entertained most of us for years. Names like Harry Bryant and Michael February traveled to a secret, roping tube somewhere in Micronesia.

The finals have come down to Milla Coco Brown, Al Cleland Jr., Soli Bailey, Kirra Pinkerton, Noah Beschen, and Eithan Osborne. “Every session is judged by experienced surfers who prioritize creativity and overall approach to the session, over decimal points,” reads the Natural Selection description. Judges are placed in a boat at a strategic location to get the optimal view of the competitors.

Thus far, reviews on the Natural Selection format have been positive. And how could they not be? An unnamed barrel location that happened to go off when the crew was there never hurts the ratings. Enjoy the show!
