In case you missed it, Surfing Australia in conjunction with Hurley just revealed an innovative training facility for practicing aerials. It’s pretty crazy. It manifests the predictability of a skate ramp to perfect your skills in the unpredictable ocean. Skate ramps don’t move; it’s always the same; there’s no wind or tides or flat spells. Pretty soon kids’ll be pulling off 360 mctwists (whatever the hell those are)!
New footage from the facility shows grommets getting vertical, inverted, and everything in between. And with a cushion-y landing pad, they’re free to push themselves further and further. Aren’t you sick of seeing the same old air reverses? Well, the skate influence could infuse surfing with a sprinkle of new style – we’re talkin’ judos, tuck knees…maybe even some flip tricks? Nah…skaters can keep those.
