Rob Machado, a man who needs no introduction, has an 11-year-old son named Jax. They recently took a quick father-son surf trip to Lemoore, California for an R&D session on Rob’s latest design, the Groove.
Machado isn’t letting Jax off easy when it comes to surfing, either. “Right here I get tubed,” Jax says as they watch the footage from the session. “Ah, not really,” his dad responds. “Hey, a little bit!” Jax shoots back.
While Rob was feeling the Groove out, Jax was riding a 4’4″ Too Fish. In the video you see here, they break down the session.
“The Surf Ranch is a pretty amazing place to test boards,” Rob tells Jax. “You’ve got speed, you’ve got good transition, you’ve got some tube sections.”
Although Rob Machado has done countless surf trips to some of the best waves in the world over the course of his career, it’s likely that a trip to the Surf Ranch with his son is up there with the best of them.
