The Inertia

Hailing from Western Australia, Kerby Brown is a bonafide hellman. He doesn’t much care if you know his name or not. Aside from his family, Brown has a singular love affair with big, scary slabs. He has an almost care-free approach when it comes to tackling these kinds of waves and developed his understanding of difficult spots by first watching the ocean, and then placing himself in daring situations over and over again (call it trial by fire).

The lines Kerby takes into this slab in particular are hair-raisingly dangerous. The drone footage captures it perfectly. With the first wave of the video, you see Kerby take a line only meters away from sucking currents and dry rocks. All while being chased down by a huge wall of Indian Ocean water. Kerby picks this line time and time again with varying degrees of success.

With unforgiving waves like this, there’s little room for error. Watching Kerby and his team tackle the slab certainly makes for compelling viewing.
