Jacob “Zeke” Szekely has proven to be a bit of a divisive figure. When the La Jolla native was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, he ended up with jail time, rehab and an ankle monitor (which he went on to win the NSSA National Championships while wearing). That and his brash personality have landed him at the top of the list of surfers the internet loves to hate.
To his credit: He’s been cleaning up his act since. Zeke got sober, went back to school and did court mandated community service. However, it would be nice if he would stop getting into fights.
Also to his credit: The guy can surf, as this clip posted to SLAWTV’s YouTube channel can attest. Zeke was joined by WSL competitor Skip McCullough for a bit of barrel hunting in San Diego and it’s hard to argue with the results.
