We’re beginning to sound like a broken record. Surf fans, this particular website, other surf media, WSL commentators, Instagram trolls…everyone. We’ve all been joyously, albeit repetitively, announcing the triumphant return of Bruce Irons. But all the hype and hoopla is for good reason – we’re just so damn excited.
Above you’ll see a highlight reel from Bruce’s season on the North Shore along with a few cameos from his fellow RVCA team riders. Hard-charging spartan surfing from Jay Davies. Above-the-lip helicopter impressions from Kalani David. And Pipeline perfection from Danny Fuller. But the star of the show is clearly Bruce. It’s like he never missed a beat, secretly surfing Pipeline in the night when no one was watching, maintaining that punk rock grace he’s been known for over the years. He even hucks a hefty air, one like he would’ve in the closing section of Taylor Steele’s 2005 opus, Campaign. It’s clips like this that force us to beg the question: Was Bruce Irons ever gone in the first place?
