There have been airs thrown in women’s competition before. Lakey Peterson comes directly to mind. But perhaps none of them have been as clean (and as big) as Carissa Moore’s air reverse yesterday at the World Surf League’s Newcastle Cup. It was so big in fact, Carissa seemingly couldn’t believe it herself, completing it with a beautiful grab for punctuation.  Carissa worked hard in the offseason to get better and up her game. “You have to keep reinventing yourself when you’re amongst a field that I am with the girls constantly pushing the boundaries,” she said.

With the heat win, Carissa moves into the semifinals where she’ll face Caroline Marks, a juicy matchup for sure. You can watch the event live here, or over at WorldSurfLeague.com.
