It’s been a wild winter. While the remnants of last month’s monster swell have faded into memory, new forecasts quickly predicted that the run of incredible surf was far from over. Thanks to the YouTube channel Surf Kawela Hawaii, we have a look at what that looked like for the North Shore’s performance mainstay, Haleiwa.
The footage was taken two days ago and features a bevy of pros, including Bettylou Sakura Johnson, Tatiana Weston-Webb and Ezekiel Lau. Haleiwa is a tough wave on the best of days, and this was no exception. As you can see from the footage, every successful ride is simply a prelude to a gauntlet of punishing waves and relentless currents on the paddle back out.
