Well, the Margaret River Pro is on the verge of kicking off. The forecast looks decidedly better than dismal, which is a welcome change from the last few events. Most of the best in the world are there for a free surf, getting their feet in the wax and generally enjoying the power of Western Australia.
The WSL decided that they’d string together a few clips into a video featuring John John Florence (a man who truly shines when Margs is on), Gabriel Medina, João Chianca, Caio Ibelli, Liam O’Brien, Jordy Smith, Callum Robson, Barron Mamiya, Nat Young, Connor O’Leary, Italo Ferreira, Leonardo Fioravanti, Filipe Toledo, Kolohe Andino, Jacob Willcox, Michael Rodrigues, and Matthew McGillivray, just to name a few. It’s a proper warm up session in proper surf.
The mid-season cut is here, of course, and Margs has put the axe to the necks of quite a few surfers, Kelly Slater included. The full Championship Tour enters, but only the top 22 men and 10 women advance. As much as some people hate it, it sure does put the pro surf fan on the edge of their seat, right?
