The Inertia

You know what’s surprising? That more people don’t get hurt on big days at Waimea. It’s likely due to the fact that most of the people who surf there are all really, really good surfers, but still. With all the mayhem and chaos going on when the Bay turns up the volume, one would think that, just by sheer coincidence, more people would be getting smashed by errant surfboards. Knock on wood, of course.

Leonardo Fioravanti linked up with Zeke Lau when Waimea got giant. It was almost a day for the Eddie, but after organizers flicked on the green light, they decided to unflick it due to the wind. But just because the Eddie didn’t run doesn’t mean the waves weren’t there. They were very much there, and so was just about everyone who wanted to try their hand at one of the North Shore’s most iconic waves.
