Last week the North Shore was hit by arguably the biggest swell it has experienced this winter. Highways were like parking lots and most breaks were maxed out. Waimea Bay, on the other hand, was firing. With light to moderate winds throughout most parts of the day, Waimea was definitely the spot to be. To the delight of the giant crowd packed on the beach and on the cliffs, Kelly Slater paddled out and caught a few bombs. By mid-day the wave was packed just like a classic Pipeline lineup. Here are a few impressions, shot with a drone on Wednesday, January 21st and the morning of Thursday, January 22nd.
