For the first time ever, a WSL longboard event was held in Surf City El Salvador. The contest took place at one of the country’s best waves in El Sunzal and top longboarders from around the world gathered to compete. “The Land of Volcanoes” delivered great conditions on the water, with glassy waves and consistent surf throughout the entire contest.
While everyone brought their A-game, it came down to an all Waikiki final with Kelisa Kaelopaa and Sophia Culhane for the women and Kaniela Stewart and John Michael Van Hohenstein. In the end, Culhane and Stewart were the champs. The finals at Malibu are just around the corner: Stewart currently holds the number-one seed for the men and Kaleopaa is in the number-one spot for the women. Tune into the Malibu Longboard Championships October 3-13.
