Venice Beach to skating is what the North Shore is to surfing. Dozens of professional skaters, including legends like Jay Adams, Tony Alva, Christian Hosoi, Eric Dressen, Shogo Kubo, and Natas Kaupas, all lived along a two-mile stretch of coastline. During the days of the infamous Marina del Rey Skatepark and the Pavilion in the ’70s and ’80s, Venice was known as one of the sport’s toughest proving grounds. Today it boasts one of the most well-designed and scenic parks in the world. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone who wants to find out why Venice style is still so recognizable and influential worldwide.
